| Joan Hansen Whether using
watercolor, oil or acrylic, Hansen paints with passion, and an eye for color. The
award-winning vibrant paintings of landscape, wildlife, seascape, and floral themes
express her love of color and nature. Through her business, Creative Art and Design
Studio, Hansen teaches art classes and workshops, gives painting demonstrations, and
juries art shows. Her work is exhibited in galleries, corporate art shows and festivals,
and is included in private and corporate collections throughout the world.
Hansen has written and illustrated an art instruction
book, Painting Floral Scenes in Watercolor, published by Walter Foster Books. She
is featured in Splash 3 and Splash 4, books which review the work of America's best
contemporary watercolorists. Hansen's work has also been featured in catalogs and
magazines, including Dick Blick, Watercolor '94, Zoo News, North Light, Artists of
southern California II, and Decorating & Style. Her work has been licensed for
fine art prints, a calendar, a watercolor painting kit, greeting cards, puzzles, and a
line of artwear.

Hansen's art career began while working as an
administrative secretary at the University of Wisconsin- Superior. Hansen took her first
drawing class in 1975. "I'm living proof that you don't have to be born an artist. I
feel very strongly that a person can do whatever she or he desires to do," says
Hansen. After moving to Bonita, California, she received an Associate Degree in Art at
Southwestern College.
